CARLOS PERALTA, PRESIDENT OF THE ORGANIZATION FOR PEACE OPP 50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE TRAGIC LAUNCH OF THE ATOMIC BOMB ON HIROSHIMA
6th August 1995 –Museum of Hiroshima City of Hiroshima, Japan

It is a pleasure being with you today and sharing the silence to meditate on the cause, while the bell of Peace reminds us that it will not be possible to get back all the lives unjustly sacrificed. The first commitment taken by the Organization for Peace OPP is the destruction of all types of weapons, especially nuclear weapons as the one launched, without giving notice, 50 years ago during the Second World War on the city of Hiroshima. It was like a devastating flash destroying the whole population, causing hundreds of thousands of victims.

It is quite unbelievable that this premeditated crime against humanity was then masked with the words “results of the war”, to avoid punishment from any international war crimes tribunal. The 6th August 1945 this massacre started a sad and threatening nuclear era, creating a situation of world intimidation and high danger against the helpless population of our planet, imposing the radioactive power as war supremacy, since it can quickly erase any human being on earth.

We have been listening to different opinions, some by very outstanding men and women in the world, saying that in that moment the atomic bomb was necessary to put an end to the conflict. This is a wrong opinion that discredits even the most savvy person so that anyone wouldn’t trust anymore – opinions of outstanding people should be free from created interests. Someone dares say that erasing even one single life can be a justifiable action – exterminated hundreds of thousands of innocent human lives that had nothing to do with war and leaving tens of thousands affected by the radioactive power caused by the nuclear explosion, a disease then transmitted to their successors who for many generations inherited this incurable disease…it is hard to find an explanation for all that people who lived and currently live the effects of being victims of the atomic bomb. It is extremely important to raise awareness in all people in charge of military actions in the world in order for them to understand that nuclear armory, that every day is implemented in many parts of the world just to boast power with the installation of nuclear warheads, could simply make life on earth disappear…the effects are like a boomerang - when launched, a boomerang gets back with increased power…

So many times death-makers have been praised like heroes and have never been duly judged, but they surely had been judged by their inner conscience, even though they tried to deny it, and probably their conscience has been the unique judge harassing them in silence every single moment of their life for the crime committed…

We have seen today the children of a school in Hiroshima near the bell of Peace, probably many of them are grandchildren of the victims of the tragic atomic bomb and probably many are affected by the radioactive power, that they keep hidden underneath their clothes.

They greeted us with respect and an innocent smile, speaking their basic English with us, as they saw our western look. This is a good demonstration that this country erased any resentment for the war and has since then been committed to promoting and supporting this message: NO TO NUCLEAR WEAPONS… maybe they can in this way help saving even just one life or thousands of lives and that this mistake, committed 50 years ago, would never happen again.

We who visited more than once the cities of Hiroshima or Nagasaki, or visited the museum of the horror in Hiroshima, as we do today by standing right under the cupola brought here from the factory, to increase the destructive radioactive power. Just looking what is around us gives us much more power to stand up and tell the whole world that we have to stop with these horrors and serious mistakes committed because of wars, that exterminated human beings that never hold an arm, such as in the Jewish holocaust with its hundreds of innocent victims or the Vietnamese holocaust, or in the African continent, devastated with hundreds of deaths that because of lack of information remained anonym – all these victims are part of the blacklist of humankind, resulting from a criminal action on innocent people, repeating the only unacceptable excuse that they always say, that these are just the effects of war…

OPP, Organization for Peace

Says: NO TO NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND OTHER TYPES OF WEAPONS

Says: NO TO WAR

Says: NO TO CRIME

Says: YES TO DIALOGUE BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN AND THE GOVERNEMTS IN THE WORLD

Says: YES TO LIFE

The Organization for Peace joins this 50th anniversary of the atomic bomb “NEVER AGAIN” and reiterates one more time NEVER AGAIN to this mistake of men exterminating human lives for the only purpose of egoistically achieving their own goals…

To give mistake no chance and prevent this catastrophe from happening again, we all should jointly take efforts and convince decision makers to stop nuclear armory and dismantle existing bases in order to save human life.
